BoPPAPre-Teens (13-14yrs), BoPPATeens (15yrs+) classes are specifically designed for children aged 13 years upwards who want to learn dance, acting or singing in a fun positive environment. We offer many different styles for this age group including jazz, ballet, tap, acro, acting, singing and more. Come along for a week of trials to see which style suits you.
BoPPAPre-Teens, BoPPATeens - Classes
Acro - taught by our fully qualified teachers this class teaches the AcrobaticArts Syllabus. Skills include Cartwheels, forward rolls, backward rolls and eventually moving up to walkovers and aerials. Our acro students get to show off their skills in our mid year and end of year showcase.
Triple Threat - A Triple Threat is described as an individual who can act, sing and dance. In this class your child will be learning all of these skills through drama activities and age appropriate musical theatre tunes. Triple Threat students also work on audition technique, with the aim of giving them that “professional edge” when it comes to real life auditions. Triple Threat students learn a routine to put in our mid year and end of year concert.
ATOD Ballet - Ballet is the foundation of all dance technique and is a great way for students to gain muscle control that will help all other areas of their dancing. Taught by our qualified ballet teachers, these classes follow the Australian Teachers of Dance Ballet Syllabus. A guideline for ballet class ages include Gold Star for thirteen year olds turning fourteen, Elementary for fourteen year olds turning fifteen, Intermediate for fifteen year olds turning sixteen, Advanced for sixteen year olds turning seventeen. Students at this age beginning ballet will be more suited to our Silver levels. ATOD students can enter their exams as a Participant or for a Full Examination. Full Examination students must also attend a secondary ballet class each week.
Jazz - In this class your child will be learning jazz technique to current and age appropriate music. Some of the things you would see your child doing in this class include turns, kicks and leaps, some stretching and strengthening of muscles! Jazz students sit an exam with their teacher in their last class for Term 2 and then perform a routine in our end of year concert to show their families their new skills.
Tap - In this class your child will be learning tap technique to current and age appropriate music. Tap is a great way for students to develop their rhythm and musicality in a fun, safe learning environment! Tap students sit an exam with their teacher in their last class for Term 2 and then perform a routine in our end of year concert to show their families their new skills.
Lyrical and Contemporary - Lyrical and Contemporary is a combination of jazz and ballet moves and great for the more creative student. This class combines technique, stretching and improvisation. Students do not wear shoes for this class. Students in this class perform a routine in our mid year and end of year concert to show their families their new skills.
BoPPAPre-Teens, BoPPATeens - Extension Classes
Extension Ballet - A great secondary class for the student who is enthusiastic about ballet. Extension Ballet students learn technique exercises each week that differ from their regular examination work, they learn ballet specific strengthening exercises and also variations from well known ballets. Extension Ballet is offered in two different levels and is open to any exam student Test 3 upwards. Full Examination students from Silver Medal upwards must attend this class each week.
Beginner Pointe - Beginner Pointe class is a 30 minute class focused on preparing the feet for pointe shoes and assisting those students new to pointe work. Beginner Pointe is open to any exam student Bronze Star upwards. Full Examination students from Silver Star upwards must attend this class each week until agreed upon by the teacher. Pointe shoes are not allowed in this class until approved by the teacher.
Extension Jazz - A great secondary class for the student who is enthusiastic about jazz. Extension Jazz students learn technique exercises each week that differ from their regular examination work, they learn jazz specific strengthening exercises and also choreography. Extension Jazz is offered in two different levels and is open to any exam student.
Advanced Acro - A class for the acro student wanting that extra push. Advanced Acro students are learning advanced tumbling tricks and combinations in a smaller class environment. Students must be able to complete a forward and backward walkover and side aerial before joining this class, they should also have a good level of flexibility.
