How are you planning on keeping fit over Summer?
Don’t ditch your strength, stretch and conditioning this summer. We know you’ll want to get out and enjoy the sunshine, which we hope you will make the most of, but it is also a great time to get on top of your strength training while your regular classes aren’t on. So, here are our top tips for keeping fit this summer…
Firstly, it’s important to make sure you schedule time each day to do a little bit of conditioning. We don’t want you spending hours and hours stretching and conditioning, its the holidays right, but it is important to schedule some time each day so you ACTUALLY do it.
Core - a quick and easy core conditioning workout that takes only 3 minutes to complete. 0-15 seconds dish rocks, 16-30 seconds superman rocks, 31-45 seconds v-snaps or z-sits, 46seconds - 1 min rest. Repeat 3x!
Lower Body - some great lower body exercises that are quick and easy include Wall Sits, I would aim for at least a 30 sec hold and working your way up to 1 minute at a time. Another great exercise is squat jumps, just make sure when you’re squat jumping you’re actually squatting and not in your regular plie position.
Flexibility - its important to maintain some stretching as well. This will differ depending on the individual but it is always good to include a split hold either pushing into the wall or lying upside with your legs in middle split position.
Reward - make sure you reward yourself at the end of each week for sticking to your conditioning schedule.
